FLUTE FEAST 13th-14th February 2010, Stockholm.http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=236656355653&v=info
It's time again for The Swedish Wind Ensemble (SWE) to bring to the fore one of the wind instruments. For the past 4 years we have organised so called ”instrument feasts” where we have focused on one section of the orchestra. These successful ventures have previously highlighted Trombone, Clarinet, Saxophone & Horn.
This time it is the turn of the silversounding Flute and FLUTE FEAST 2010
13th-14th February 2010 we will be the date for this fabulous event and as special guest we have none other than Sir James Galway, the man with the Golden Flute.Sir James is quite unusual, a wind player with megastar status. The fact that he is as well known outside musical circles makes him quite unique and it is with great pleasure that we welcome him to Stockholm for this event.
Next year Sir James will be celebrating his 70th birthday and as part of the celebrations he will be participating in Flute Feast 2010 together with his wife, Lady Jeannie Galway, who is also a flutist. Lady Galway will be leading and performing with the Flute Feast Choir. An ensemble consisting of over 200 flute players; youth, amateurs, students, teachers & professionals. They will perform specially arranged pieces for flute choir and will feature before and during the Flute Feast Concert on Sunday evening.
The weekend will be jampacked with workshops under the leadership of specialised tutors and flutists., exhibitions with the latest developments in flute technology, flute accessories & music from the flute repertoire. There are a few surprises in store and of course it will be a unique possibility to see, hear & meet the flute guru himself, Sir James Galway who will also give a special masterclass.
The highlight of the weekend will of course be the concert in Stockholms Concert House. SWE, Sir & Lady Galway will together with The Flute Choir provide an occasion full of wonderful orchestral and flute music. From exciting solo concertos to the majestic ”Daphnis et Chloe” of Maurice Ravel. As a finale the orchestra, our honoured guests & the flute choir will perform a special arrangement including many of the pieces that have made Sir James the legend he is today.
Don't miss this spectacular event together with SWE, Sir James & Lady Galway and take this opportunity to visit the lovely city of Stockholm.
